The Ritz-Carlton, Tokyo: Roppongi Views, Club and Breakfast

The Ritz-Carlton, Tokyo

Looking out over the city from a high-rise in Midtown Tokyo, select your bed type, Japanese-style suite, and lounge needs separately.

What would I choose?

If I want to shop and see exhibitions in Roppongi, and then leisurely enjoy the city views from my high-rise room, I would add The Ritz-Carlton, Tokyo to my list. Located in Midtown Tokyo, shopping and dining are easily achievable in the itinerary; the standard king, twin, Japanese suite, and lounge access versions can also be compared separately depending on your travel style.

I’ll first think about what kind of view I like and how the two of us will sleep before deciding whether to go to a club. Some guests really like the service and the high-rise atmosphere, while others feel the decor is dated. If you prefer a fresh and bright style, looking at guest photos will make it easier to choose the right one than just looking at the hotel brand.

Advantages and trade-offs: The high-rise atmosphere is attractive, but the view and the club are separate considerations.

  • Tokyo Midtown’s amenities: Shopping, dining, and exhibitions can be easily combined, making it suitable for a Roppongi itinerary.
  • Multiple accommodation options are available: king-size bed, twin beds, suites with separate living rooms, and modern Japanese style. You can compare options based on the needs of your travel companions.
  • High-rise view: This is more useful for people who want to watch the sunset or night view from their room than for those who only come back to sleep for a few hours each day.
  • It’s worth noting that some guests feel the decor and facilities are dated, and those who prefer a bright and modern style should check out the actual photos.
  • Upgrades should be purposeful: Clubs emphasize lounge benefits, while views and room amenities should be considered in the full room type, not simply as larger rooms.

Location and Transportation: Take Roppongi Line 8 to Midtown. If you have luggage, please take the designated bus routes first.

The hotel is located at 9-7-1 Akasaka, Minato-ku, Tokyo, in Tokyo Midtown. According to official Tokyo Midtown transportation guides, it’s directly connected to Exit 8 of Roppongi Station on the Toei Oedo Line; there’s also an underground passage at Roppongi Station on the Hibiya Line, but there are stairs along the way. Exit 3 of Nogizaka Station is generally a 3-minute walk away.

When traveling with a stroller or wheelchair, Tokyo Midtown officially recommends using the Oedo Line. If you’ve already taken the Hibiya Line, check the elevator information at Roppongi Station; elevator 4a leads to the ground, and then compare the ground-level routes. Don’t assume that the underground connection means there are no stairs throughout the entire route. For the final section inside the building leading to the hotel’s welcome entrance and high-rise reception area, you can also ask the hotel for directions beforehand.

November 2026 Itinerary Reminder: The official announcement from Tokyo Midtown states that some facilities will close early at 2 PM on November 20th, and the mall will be temporarily closed from November 21st to 23rd.Some underground passages and surface areas will also be closed. If I’m staying during these days, I’ll first check with the hotel about their operations, entrance arrangements, and shuttle services, and then reschedule my shopping trip to another day.

Surrounding activities: Shopping, visiting exhibitions, and leisurely strolls in the park.

The shops, restaurants, and Suntory Museum in Tokyo Midtown are all worth visiting in one day, with some extra time for a stroll in Hinokicho Park. If you want to make your accommodation part of your relaxation and avoid having to travel across districts for every meal, it’s a great option to explore the neighborhood first and then return to your room to watch the sunset.

The view from a high-rise window can be affected by the room’s orientation, the weather, and surrounding buildings. If you most want to see Tokyo Tower or Mount Fuji, I would list the desired view direction directly in my room selection criteria, rather than expecting that a high floor will necessarily offer the same view.

How to choose a room type: Consider bed type, living area, and Japanese style separately.

The official room categories can be compared to standard rooms, club rooms, and different suites. Wanting two people to each sleep in a bed, wanting a separate living room, and wanting to experience a modern Japanese-style space are three different needs, which I will compare separately.

Your needs
You can compare first.I will pay attention.
Your needs include one large bed or two beds. You can first compare different bed models such as Deluxe and Tokyo Deluxe.I will pay attention to the movement around the bed, the seating by the window, and the names of the views.
You need to stay in the room for a relatively long time. You can first compare the Executive and Deluxe Executive suites with those of the Carlton, etc.I will pay attention to whether the living room is separate and whether the tables and chairs are usable.
You like Japanese-style spacesYou can first compare versions such as Modern Japanese Suite.I will pay attention to the tatami mats, sliding doors, and the actual bed arrangement.
Your requirement is to use the executive lounge. You can first compare the versions that explicitly include Club/Lounge Access benefits.I will pay attention to the number of companions, dining arrangements, and lounge usage.

Standard double beds and twin beds: Prioritizing sleep and natural light.

The photos show a bedside table, chair, and window space; if two people each sleep in one bed, choose a twin bed first, then compare daytime lighting and nighttime lighting. Some bathroom detail photos are shared across multiple room types; the actual configuration should be viewed in conjunction with the selected room type, and not taken as a single photo representing all rooms.

Suite: Requires a separate living space; then compare…

The catalogues for Executive and Deluxe Executive Suites show the seamless transition between the living room, bedroom, and bathroom; larger suites offer more seating and living space. For travelers with different schedules or who may spend more time in the room, these amenities are more meaningful than simply upgrading based on the room name.

Modern Japanese-style suite: Aligning the tatami mats and beds together

Japanese-style suites feature sliding doors, tatami mats, and various living arrangements, making them ideal for those who particularly appreciate this type of space. When traveling with children or groups, I always make sure to confirm the actual number of beds available beforehand, rather than assuming that the presence of tatami mats automatically means an extra person can sleep there.

Actual photos of a guest room: standard dimensions and nighttime lighting

The guest photos provide a glimpse into how the twin, king-size, and Japanese-style suites actually look. I’ll take a closer look at the bedside area, living area, and bathroom; these are areas I use daily when staying for an extended period.

Club and facilities: Allow time so you can make the most of it.

If you’ll be staying at the hotel for a longer period, consider room types with executive lounge access. If you just want to have a drink, eat something, or enjoy the view, make sure to check the available time slots and your travel companions beforehand. If you’re someone who leaves early in the morning and returns late at night, think about whether you can actually use the time effectively.

The facility features an indoor swimming pool and public relaxation areas, where guests can also enjoy the comfort of the bedding and services. If you plan to swim or use the spa, allow some time beforehand; families traveling with children can also check the facilities’ age restrictions and time slots to ensure a smoother schedule for the whole family.

Is breakfast worth adding? The Towers and Executive Lounge offer two different arrangements.

According to the hotel’s official dining page, Towers offers a paid breakfast, served from 7:00 AM to 10:30 AM. Whether breakfast is included depends on your chosen plan; verification date: 2026-10-24.

For guests with Club benefits, please refer to the Executive Lounge breakfast schedule, which is officially listed as 07:00–10:30. Below is the official signage for the Executive Lounge breakfast counter; to use the lounge breakfast, select a room type that includes the corresponding benefits; for standard rooms, please check the actual dining location in the package.

Some guests like the presentation and taste of the breakfast, while others feel that the dining space is too small. I first consider whether I will sit down and eat a full meal, and then compare the total price difference between breakfast included and not included. If I only want to drink coffee in the morning, or want to eat at a restaurant in Roppongi, I don’t have to force myself to have breakfast at the hotel every day.

Short stays and extended stays: making sightseeing and outings more comfortable.

I’m only staying one night, so I’ll arrange to return to the hotel in the afternoon to rest and enjoy the sunset and night view. The official check-in time is 3:00 PM and check-out time is 12:00 PM, so I can also take my time packing the next day and avoid squeezing the entire hotel night into the late hours.

When staying for an extended period, the bed type, room lighting, furniture, and daily transportation become even more important. Those who value a fresh and modern style should look at real photos; if you want to use the lounge, allocate time for it in your itinerary. If you need to take the JR train across the city or catch an early morning train every day, factor in your transfer arrangements beforehand, and don’t assume that Roppongi is the most convenient route just because it’s in Roppongi.

How do we choose in the end?

I would reserve the Ritz-Carlton Tokyo for those who enjoy high-rise views, shopping and exhibitions in Roppongi, and are willing to slow down at the hotel. Choosing the bed type and the direction you want to look at first, then looking at the Japanese-style suites or the club; arranging breakfast and hotel facilities according to your schedule will bring you closer to this attractive place.
