Granduo Shirokane by Tranova: Apartment Units, Kitchen and Self Check-in
GranDuo shirokane by Tranova
To incorporate kitchen, dining table, and laundry facilities into your trip, make sure to select the correct room number and check-in instructions beforehand.
I’m planning to stay in Tokyo for a few nights, buy some food, and do laundry for the next day, so I’ll take a look at this Platinum apartment. However, the beds, bathrooms, and floors vary from room to room, so I need to ask about self-check-in and toiletries beforehand to make sure it suits my preferences.

Transportation and entrance; Nearby amenities; Room types and facilities; Breakfast options; Check-in and services; Advantages and precautions.
What would I choose?
- Suitable for: People who will use the kitchen, dining table and laundry facilities, and who are willing to check in themselves according to the apartment’s instructions.
- First, select the category: two, three, or four people, then check the room number, bed width, and sleeping compartment.
- First, ask about the building’s elevators, how to take luggage upstairs, how to pick up supplies, and how to contact them.
I will consider whether I will need the living facilities and also take the service methods into account; the space may look spacious, but the actual sleep and care needs still need to be confirmed for each room number.
The pedestrian-friendly area around Shirogane-Takanawa Station will prioritize preserving the building’s exterior.
The operator of Platinum Grando by Tranova is GranDuo shirokane, and the address is 3-9-12 Shirokane, Minato-ku, Tokyo. The official website lists it as about a 6-minute walk from Shirokane-Takanawa Station, but doesn’t specify an exit. I will save the full address and exterior view together, and upon arrival, find the room number by the actual entrance, instead of just searching for "Platform accommodations".

The Shirogane Takanawa Station connects to the Tokyo Metro Namboku Line and the Toei Mita Line. If you need an elevator, follow the station map to the platform elevator, gates, and connecting floors, then connect to elevator number 1 at ground level. There is also an elevator in the public bicycle parking area. Exits 3 and 4 are not on the same route as the elevators, so I always check my route before taking my luggage.
The operator did not provide continuous, stepless signage from the ground-level elevator to the building entrance, and arrangements for elevators and luggage transport within the building should be inquired separately. For those with strollers, large suitcases, or those who have difficulty using stairs, I would first clarify which floor to book and how to enter before deciding whether the location is convenient.
Make shopping nearby a part of your daily routine while living in the apartment.
Rather than a short stay where you just get back to your room and lie down, I would think of this apartment as a place where I can buy some groceries and come back to sit at the dining table to eat. Some travelers have mentioned nearby bakeries and convenience stores, and enjoying walks around the Platinum area; whether it’s suitable depends on your destination and when you return each day.
If I want to include nearby attractions like the Tokyo Metropolitan Garden Museum in my itinerary, I’ll check their opening hours and routes separately, instead of equating "nearby" with just being a short walk away. On the first night, I’ll familiarize myself with the route back to my accommodation and the places to buy things, making it easier to prepare a simple breakfast or do laundry later.
First select the room number and sleeping configuration, then check the apartment space.
The official website lists this place as a serviced apartment, providing kitchenware, stoves, dining tables, bathtubs, washing machines, microwaves, and refrigerators. However, the website does not list the bed width and size for each room number; the room number, bed type, and photos on the booking platform should be viewed together, and you cannot assume that it is two separate bedrooms just because it says "sleeps four people".
Platform room type section
Currently comparable content
I will confirm again.
Platform Room Type 202 / Non-smoking / 2 people
Currently comparable content includes a Trip listing 30㎡, a double bed, and a second-floor unit; the photo shows an open space with pink curtains.
I will double-check the bed width, luggage unfolding position, and the designated room number.
Platform room type slot 101 / Non-smoking / 2ppl
The currently available comparisons on Trip include a picture of a double bed; photos show a kitchen, a washing machine, and a red bathroom.
I will double-check the area and bed width, as they have not been officially confirmed for each room number.
No smoking in the platform’s room section / 4 people
Currently comparable content includes a Trip listing for 39㎡, 3rd floor, with one double bed each in the bedroom and living room.
I will double-check whether the sleeping area has compartments with doors that can be closed; don’t just imagine based on the text.
Platform room type slot 401/D/4 people/Non-smoking
Currently comparable content includes Trip listing 39㎡, 4th floor; this category shares the same photos with another four-person room.
I will double-check the floor, the actual configuration, and the elevators in the building.
Platform room type: non-smoking/triple room
Currently, the comparable content is available in the room type gallery, which has a separate category. The photos show two bed areas and a dining table.
I will double-check the bed size, the sleeping arrangements for the three people, and the number of guests.
Four-person grouping: The dining table and bed are in the same frame.

I’ll first check the distance between the beds, dining table, and kitchen. The four-person and 401 categories share photos, which can be used to understand the accommodation style, but cannot prove that each room number is exactly the same. If your travel companions want to sleep separately and have different sleep schedules so that they don’t disturb each other, it’s more reliable to ask the accommodation to confirm the room and bed arrangements beforehand than just looking at the total number of people.
202 Two-person category: Kitchen passageway and bathroom also included.

The photos categorized into 202 sections clearly illustrate the workflow of sleeping, dining, and kitchen. I’ll pay attention to whether I can move around easily after putting my suitcase down, and whether I’m comfortable with this open layout where I can rest and eat at the same time. The 30㎡ of the platform doesn’t guarantee bed width; those who prefer a larger bed should inquire separately.
Three-person classification: Do not estimate bed width from photos.

The three-person packages have different flooring and bathroom views, and you can also see the washing machine. How the beds in the photos look like they can be arranged is different from how the actual packages allow for sleeping. When traveling with friends or family, I will first ask about the bed allocation, bedding, and cost for three people before choosing a package.
101 Categories: Differences in Bathroom and Home Appliance Configurations

Category 101 has its own red bathroom and washroom photos. I will check the booking terms against the room number, and not simply apply the size, bathroom, and facility location of room 202 or the four-person room directly. If a lower floor is required, the entrance step difference should still be confirmed; one cannot assume there is no step difference just because the room number is 101.
Kitchenware, appliances, and tableware suitable for people who will actually use them.

I find these facilities very appealing if I want to buy groceries, heat up a simple meal, or sit at the table to eat slowly in the morning. The availability of tableware, cookware, and refrigerator capacity depends on the actual room size, and you should ask beforehand whether consumables such as oil and salt are provided; don’t mistake displaying tableware for a meal service.
Laundry and storage are also part of my daily routine.

The washing machine and cleaning supplies are suitable for a short stay, but the detergent, drying method, usage time, garbage sorting, and cleaning frequency should all be checked in the check-in guide. If I’m traveling with a large group, I would separate showering, laundry, and unpacking to make the apartment more comfortable.
Breakfast is to be arranged independently; the kitchen is not considered part of the breakfast plan.
Breakfast is not included in the trip itinerary, and the operator’s facilities page does not list breakfast hours, menu, or whether meals are included. I plan to eat out or prepare my own breakfast, and if meals are included in the booking, I will check the details with the accommodation.
Currently, only the kitchen, dining table, and tableware are confirmed; no photos of plates belonging to the property’s breakfast service have been found. If you want to cook for yourself, first inquire about kitchen utensils and basic seasonings; if you want to buy bread to take home, first check the opening hours of nearby shops so you can start your morning at your own pace.
Self-service entry and amenities pickup are things you should ask about before ordering.
Trip specifies check-in after 3:00 PM and check-out before 10:00 AM, requiring you to contact us by email one day in advance to provide your identification information, and then follow the instructions to obtain your key or room card independently. The same complete policy is not listed on the operator’s facilities page, so I will rely on the official confirmation after booking. Before arrival, I will check my email, register the links and assistance methods.
Some reviews praised the clean and spacious rooms and smooth communication with the host; others mentioned difficulties with check-in and contact, and the need to find towels separately. These are experiences from different times and room types, and I will use them as a checklist to ask questions such as where the amenities are located, who to contact if I need anything after arriving at the room, and how long it will take to get a response.

This photo of resident 202 is related to their experience with retrieving linens, but it cannot be assumed that the situation remains the same, nor can the security of the equipment be judged solely based on the photo. When encountering public lockers that need to be opened or unfamiliar equipment, I will first seek assistance from management and will not attempt to operate it myself.
Trip lists the quiet hours from 22:00 to 07:00. Children’s stay and fees must be filled in with the number of people when booking. Extra beds and cribs are not available. Families traveling together should confirm sleep arrangements and actual room rules in advance, and also take care of the rest of neighbors and other guests at night.
I would recommend it to anyone who wants to make good use of their home appliances.
What I value
- The apartment, located at the same address as the operator, has a kitchen, dining table, and laundry facilities suitable for a few nights’ stay.
- There are room types for two, three, and four people to compare, and you can see the sleeping and meal preparation routes in the room photos.
- The Shirokane-Takanawa Station walking area is ideal for those looking to settle in the Shirokane area.
I’ll think about it again before ordering.
- The photos and specifications for each room number are different. Using the same photo does not guarantee the configuration of a specific room.
- Ask about bed width, room size, elevator access, and how to carry luggage upstairs beforehand.
- Make sure you understand the self-check-in process, amenities pickup, and contact information before you arrive.
- Breakfast is to be arranged by yourself; rules regarding cleaning, laundry, and garbage disposal must also be followed.
If you genuinely enjoy sitting at the dining table for meals and laundry, and like to make your trip feel like a regular day, then I’d include it in the comparison. If you want someone to assist you at the front desk at any time, daily cleaning, or a ready-made breakfast, ask about the services offered beforehand to avoid misaligning the apartment with your expectations.
