TOKYO / CHIYODA
the b ochanomizu: Awajicho Exit, 14–25 m² Rooms and Light Breakfast
the b ochanomizu
Awajicho is closer than JR Ochanomizu
The b ochanomizu is a compact hotel for trips built around the Marunouchi and Chiyoda subway lines rather than daily JR travel. Its address is 1-7-5 Kanda-Awajicho, Chiyoda. The hotel’s nearest official route is Awajicho Exit A5 at approximately one minute, while Shin-Ochanomizu B3a is about three minutes, JR Kanda West and JR Ochanomizu Hijiribashi about eight minutes, and Akihabara Electric Town about ten to twelve minutes according to different parts of the hotel guide. I would not treat the shortest walk as proof of a step-free journey: the elevator exit and final street route remain unverified.
Room types from 14 to 25 square metres
The hotel officially lists Single 14 m² with a 122 cm bed, Double 15 m² with a 160 cm bed, Twin 20 m² with two 90–110 cm beds, Superior King 20 m² with a 180 cm bed, Deluxe King 22 m² with a 180 cm bed, and Triple 25 m² with three 90 cm beds. Guestrooms use a unit bathroom rather than guaranteed separate toilet and bath areas. A family who pushed twin beds together is describing an individual stay, not permission for four guests in every Twin. For three separate sleeping places I would start with the Triple and confirm the actual occupancy limit.
Light breakfast is not the free lobby snack
The first-floor lobby lounge offers a light Western-style buffet from 07:00 to 09:30, with last entry at 09:00. The October 2026 reference price was ¥1,320 for adults, ¥660 for children and free for those under six. Bread, soup, eggs and simple sides are more representative than a large Japanese breakfast buffet. The lobby may also provide complimentary coffee and snacks at certain times; those do not make the paid breakfast free. A guest staying three days found the breakfast relatively limited, consistent with the hotel’s light-meal positioning.
Guest reports on the bathroom and daily upkeep
Ten original Trip reviews dated July–September 2026 were examined, among 542 displayed at the time. A July Twin guest reported bathroom odor and an August Twin guest mentioned too few power sockets. These are different issues, not evidence of a repeating defect. One September account said rubbish and towels were serviced daily while full cleaning was every third day, but that is an individual observation and needs current hotel confirmation. A July guest also described luggage storage under a bed but mentioned only one lift and washer; exact equipment counts were not verified.
Best for a short subway-focused visit
I would choose this property for a solo or two-person visit concentrated around Awajicho, Kanda and Ochanomizu, accepting compact space and light breakfast. For a long stay involving laundry, extra devices and shopping bags, I would verify the cleaning rules, socket layout, lift and washer access. A traveler shopping daily in Akihabara should calculate the walk back with bags rather than assume the hotel’s Ochanomizu name means it is on an Akihabara JR platform.
