Okachimachi Urban Hotel: Room Sizes, Station Access and Double Beds
Okachimachi Urban Hotel
Okachimachi Urban Hotel, located at 6-16-8 Sotokanda, is ideal for travelers who want to have Ueno, Ameyoko, and Akihabara within walking distance. I would consider it a base for solo travelers with light luggage: the official single room is about 9 square meters and has coin-operated laundry facilities; however, space becomes quite limited when two people share a 120cm bed, a trolley, or multiple large suitcases. The following is based on official reviews and original Trip.com comments; I did not stay there myself.

Location is an advantage; room and elevator are practical trade-offs.
- You can walk to Ueno or Akihabara separately. The official website states that it’s about a 7-minute walk to Akihabara and about a 10-minute walk to Ueno; however, the actual time will vary depending on the destination entrance and the route.
- Basic amenities are provided for short stays. The hotel has confirmed Wi-Fi and two coin-operated laundry facilities, which are useful for extended stays with minimal clothing, but immediate laundry service is not guaranteed.
- The small double room is not a spacious double room. The area is 9.08–9.53㎡, the bed is 120cm wide, and two people must accept sharing the bed and floor space before choosing this room.
- There are recent comments regarding the single elevator wait time. A specific complaint was made on October 17, 2026, and on June 7, it was also felt that the space and elevators were not suitable for large families; the capacity of the building has not been actually measured.
The general exit and the two-way elevator exits in Suehirocho are arranged separately.

| Platform 2 elevator | Information verified: Tokyo Metro train platform 2 has been rerouted to the elevator-only exit. | Luggage Notice: The distance to the exit and the elevation difference along the route need to be confirmed. |
Sources are from the hotel’s transportation page and the official accessibility information for Suehirocho Station, verified on October 23, 2026. When dragging luggage, please select the available exit first, following the direction you will be heading. The presence of elevators inside the hotel does not guarantee that both sections outside the station have been verified as having no stairs. Reference 1 Reference 2
The original comments suggest that there are convenience stores, drugstores, and restaurants nearby, and Ameyoko can be connected to shopping and walking. If you go to Ueno Park during the day and Akihabara in the evening, the location arrangement is continuous; if you go to the west side of Tokyo every day, you should compare the transportation separately, and do not assume that any route is time-saving just because "there are multiple stops".

Area and bed width are more helpful in choosing a room than "can sleep two people".
| Official room type | area | Bed conditions |
|---|---|---|
| Official Room Type: Single | Area: 9.03–9.53㎡ | Bed dimensions: 110 or 120 x 195 cm, 1 bed, capacity: 1 person. |
| Official Room Type: Semi Double | Area: 9.08–9.53㎡ | Bed dimensions: 120×195cm, 1 bed, capacity: 2 people |
| Official Room Type: Twin | Area: 12.97–13.78㎡ | Bed conditions: 2 beds; The official bed width section contains a unit error, which will not be directly adopted in this article. |
The above information is based on the official customer service statement, verified on October 23, 2026. The original description of the Twin bed’s width as "90m x 195cm" is clearly not a valid specification, and it will not be changed to 90cm before confirmation. Two people who do not want to share a bed can compare Twin beds, but more than ten square meters is not a guarantee that multiple boxes can be laid out arbitrarily; the usable dimensions at the foot of the bed, the doorway, and the area in front of the bathroom were not measured on-site. The official check-in time is 2:00 PM and check-out time is 11:00 AM. There is no parking available on site, and laundry services are chargeable. Original comments from June 23, 2026, mention the availability of a public microwave and toiletries, which can serve as a clue to convenient living. However, the actual availability of facilities and supplies is subject to on-site conditions; public facilities should not be considered equivalent to room amenities.
The new reviews can now differentiate between room types: On June 24, 2026, a single room guest mentioned that the room and bathroom were small and there wasn’t enough space for their suitcase; on June 23, a guest in a small double room also mentioned that the space was small; and on October 11, a guest in a similar room reported that the window in the non-smoking room couldn’t be opened. If I have a large suitcase, I will first ask about the location of the suitcase opening and the rules for using the window to avoid applying my experience of a single person’s room being just right to two people.
The photos taken by a single-room traveler clearly show the long table, refrigerator, and narrow passageway beside the bed; the bathroom has the bathtub, sink, and toilet all crammed into one small space. If I were traveling alone with light luggage, I would compare the ease of access to my luggage and the use of the tabletop; if two people were staying in a small double room, we would arrange for them to take turns unpacking, and I wouldn’t take the floor in the wide-angle photo as a measurement result.

Breakfast will be planned by eating out first; if not confirmed, breakfast will not be included.
Trip’s Q&A section indicates that breakfast is not provided; the official in-store equipment page does not provide information on breakfast options, times, or prices for this review, so this review does not recommend adding breakfast or estimate breakfast costs. A comment from October 5, 2026, mentioned nearby breakfast options, but the store name and current operating hours are not confirmed, so the impression of a single "23 hours" establishment cannot be taken as a guarantee.
If I’m heading to Ueno in the morning, I’ll check for breakfast shops along the way or buy a simple meal the night before; for extended stays, I’ll coordinate breakfast with the neighborhood I visit each day. For families who wish to enjoy a full breakfast at the hotel each day, this unconfirmed service should be inquired about before deciding if it suits their needs.
The original review addressed issues related to space, smell, and windows.
This review included 10 comments posted between June 7th and October 17th, 2026, out of a total of 538 comments on the platform. New information now indicates single rooms, small double rooms, and twin rooms, but the actual number of nights remains unclear. Small rooms appeared in various comments on June 23rd (small double room), June 24th, and October 17th (single room), and are listed alongside official room sizes, providing specific reminders for travelers with larger luggage. Elevator restrictions were mentioned in at least two comments on June 7th and October 17th, but were not stated as recently improved.
On October 11th, one report stated that windows could not be opened; on October 9th, another reported a slight odor in the room that disappeared after turning on the air conditioner. These are separate issues, each reported individually, and should not be combined into a report of recurring mold in the entire facility. The positive review from June 25th, praising the room as quiet and clean, should also be retained. Trip AI’s summary inappropriately includes additional original comments; no evidence of ventilation, window policies, or elevator improvements was obtained in this instance.
The choice will differ depending on whether you stay lightly or with multiple people for one night.
For one person staying one night and exploring Ueno and Akihabara during the day, the limitations of a 9㎡ room are understandable. However, for two people staying together and organizing shopping every day, I would first check the twin room layout and luggage location before asking about laundry availability. For families with strollers, toddlers, and elderly members, it’s necessary to consider both the elevator routes outside the station and the interior space; one cannot assume a room is suitable for the whole family simply because it can accommodate two people.
My choice would be reserved for those traveling light and wanting to walk between Ueno and Akihabara; travelers who value in-room activities, a spacious bed, and breakfast should first confirm whether it truly meets the necessary requirements.
The slight odor experienced by a twin room guest on October 9, 2026, disappeared after the air conditioning was turned on. This does not contradict the positive feedback about the quiet and clean single room on June 25; these are experiences from different room types and at different times. When staying consecutively, I pay attention to the condition of my room and the use of the air conditioning. If I am sensitive to ventilation, I first ask if I can change rooms or what adjustments are available, rather than writing a single feedback report about the entire hotel repeatedly being moldy.
