Imperial Hotel Tokyo: Main Building vs Tower, Breakfast Cutoff and Train Noise

Imperial Hotel, Tokyo

Imperial Hotel Tokyo suits travelers who want to combine Hibiya and Ginza with the hotel’s dining and service. The Main Building and Tower have different room options, so I would select the building, layout and outlook before comparing breakfast plans. Some guests have reported railway noise, and the Imperial Viking Sal breakfast buffet closes at 10 a.m.—a meaningful limit for late risers.

The Imperial Hotel Tokyo is suitable for travelers who want to combine their Hibiya and Ginza itinerary with the hotel’s dining services. It offers different floors and sizes, and shouldn’t be chosen solely based on its status as a “long-established luxury hotel”: while the original review repeatedly praised the service and breakfast, it also contained explicit complaints about railway noise, room odors, and the end time of breakfast. My selection process involves first considering the room type and orientation, then comparing whether the breakfast and service perfectly suit my itinerary.

First, clarify the current building type to avoid judging based on news about old building renovations.

The official address is 1-1-1 Uchiyukicho, Chiyoda-ku. The latest renovation notice on the official website states that the tower demolition plan has been adjusted to around the end of fiscal year 2030, and operations will continue until construction begins; therefore, this article does not use the previous interpretation that “the tower will be closed in 2024.” Future plans are subject to change, and actual occupancy will be subject to official announcements.Official reconstruction status

  • advantage:Hibiya and Yurakucho are within walking distance, making it easy to combine shopping in Ginza with a theater visit.
  • advantage:There are four breakfast restaurants and room service available, allowing families to compare options based on their schedules and dining preferences.
  • limit:The building, tower, floors, and rooms have different orientations, and even higher floors cannot guarantee that there will be no railway noise.
  • limit:The buffet breakfast closes at 10:00 AM, but is not the last entry point; the original review repeatedly showed discrepancies in understanding the time.

The Hibiya A13 exit is very close, but the elevator exit is not directly equivalent to it.

Official general transportation starting pointwalking time
Hibiya Station Exit A133 minutes
Uchiyukicho Station, Exit A53 minutes
JR Yurakucho Station5 minutes
Ginza Station Exit B212 minutes

Official traffic textThese general routes are clearly listed. The name of the elevator exit, its distance to the hotel, and walking time have not yet been confirmed by the operator. It’s incorrect to write the 3 minutes in A13 as a journey with no steps. When traveling with elderly people, strollers, and large suitcases, first ask about the hotel’s currently available entrances and elevator routes, and then compare direct transportation options to the entrance if necessary.

The 5-minute walk from JR Yurakucho is estimated after exiting the station, and the time from the platform to the exit must be added. If you need to catch the Shinkansen, you will also need to move to the corresponding platform at Tokyo Station. This station is suitable for activities in Hibiya and Ginza, so you don’t have to cram your daily transfers into the shortest walking time.

Do not use upgrade experience points to replace room type, whether it’s a standard room, deluxe room, or suite.

Tower Premier official pageThe room size is 50㎡ and the bed size is supported. It is clearly stated that the actual layout may differ from the illustration. The attached room list includes a 30㎡ Standard room, but a photo or bed type for a 30㎡ room cannot represent a 42㎡ main room. Trip also lists penthouse suites, etc., and not all room types are covered in this table.

The original review on October 10, 2026, stated that due to experience with paid suite upgrades, the preferential upgrade cannot be made a benefit applicable to everyone. When traveling with parents or children, the first considerations are how many actual beds are needed, whether partitions are required, and whether luggage can be packed at the same time. The 50㎡ capacity for extra beds is information on the room size; the actual remaining floor space still needs to be confirmed.

The new data allows for a clearer localization of noise samples: On October 20, 2026, the reported railway noise was from a non-smoking standard twin room in the tower, reported by a guest on the 22nd floor; the original room type that experienced railway noise after changing rooms on October 11 was a superior king room on a standard floor of the main building, with nearby construction also noted as a contributing factor. Since the actual floor level is unclear after the room change, I cannot conclude from this that the entire main building or tower is noisy; for higher floors, the orientation still needs to be checked.

The photos of guests in the tower’s standard twin room show two beds, a table and chairs by the window, and a TV stand, as well as photos of the railway and green space to the side from the same review; the superior twin room in the main building has a different set of beds and bathroom facilities. I will look at the two sets separately and clearly indicate that the photos after the paid upgrade to a suite on October 10th are not the original standard twin room photos, to avoid mistakenly raising expectations for the basic room by using the upgraded living room.

Breakfast should be served at different restaurants, and more importantly, there should be separate closing and final ordering procedures.

The official breakfast guide lists four restaurants and room service options. Imperial Viking Sal is located on the 17th floor of the main building, open from 7:00 AM on weekdays and 6:30 AM on weekends, ending at 10:00 AM; the suggested price is ¥6,800 for adults and ¥4,000 for children aged 4-12. Parkside Diner is located in the lobby, open from 6:30 AM to 11:00 AM; the suggested price for Parkside Breakfast is ¥5,800. Tax and service charge should be confirmed based on the actual menu (verified 2026-10-23).Official breakfast text

The original reviews on October 1st and 11th, 2026, both mentioned that the buffet closes at 10:00 AM or prompts guests to leave; the review on October 11th also pointed out the difference in interpretation between the Chinese and English notes. The official notice clearly states “Closed,” therefore, arriving at 9:55 AM to enjoy the meal at your leisure is not recommended. If you wish to sleep in, you can inquire separately with Parkside Diner or room service to see if your breakfast voucher qualifies for your breakfast benefits; breakfast vouchers are not assumed to be valid at all four establishments.

Regarding the taste, the original reviews on October 6th and 5th affirmed the different breakfast options; on October 11th, there were contrasting experiences with tableware cleaning and service, so both options were retained. For consecutive stays, different restaurants can be arranged, but actual benefits, age restrictions, and additional charges depend on the specific plan; those leaving before 7:00 AM must also check weekly to see if the buffet is open.

On October 6th, the photos and text for guests in the Deluxe Twin Room at this hotel were specially differentiated between Japanese breakfast, room service, and buffet dinner. Not all meals can be included in the breakfast photo set. If I were traveling with my parents and they were sleeping in late, I would first check if the breakfast voucher was valid at the restaurant, and then inquire whether room service was included. The photos of guests in the Tower Four-Bed Family Room on October 4th who used the room breakfast are only for reference during that particular experience.

The guest’s original post on October 6th clearly stated that photos 4 and 5 were the main dishes for two different Japanese breakfasts, and photo 8 was the beef buffet dinner. These three must be separated in the photo set. Additionally, a guest in a four-bed family room photographed the in-room breakfast, as well as Japanese food trays for other dates. If I’m traveling with my parents and want to minimize movement, I will first ask if room service is compatible with the selected breakfast plan, rather than assuming that all restaurants and room service are compatible just because I see a breakfast tray.

In addition to the high praise for service, there were two specific descriptions of the recent noise.

This review included 10 original Trip reviews, all published between October 1st and 20th, 2026, totaling 2,526 pages. While the publication dates are close together, this does not necessarily mean the check-in dates are the same. A guest on October 20th mentioned their room was noisy facing the railway; a guest who changed rooms on October 11th also experienced railway noise, creating a recurring theme. New information retains room types such as the standard twin bed in the tower and the superior king bed in the main building, but the exact room number and orientation after the room change are unknown, so it cannot be concluded that every room in a certain building is noisy; light sleepers should request to be away from the railway in advance.

The room odor issue reported on October 2nd and the tableware cleaning issue reported on October 11th have not been echoed with similar feedback; meanwhile, many original reviews praised the staff, cleaning, and maintenance, and one aspect cannot be used to negate the other. Without official evidence of improvement, this article will not state that the issue has been resolved.

For short stays where you plan to visit Ginza, see a show, and enjoy a hotel breakfast, location and service are relatively easy to utilize. However, for extended stays with elderly guests, it’s essential to clarify the room’s orientation, bed type, restaurant hours, and laundry arrangements beforehand. If you’re looking for the décor of a newly built hotel and absolute quiet, I would obtain the actual room details first to avoid booking solely based on its reputation.
