Hotel New Otani Tokyo Executive House Zen: Lounge and Six Breakfast Options

Hotel New Otani Tokyo, Executive House Zen

The Chinese name of Executive House Zen in Tokyo Shin-Otani, part of the Trip, might lead one to believe it’s all business suites. It should actually be understood as a "hotel within a hotel" located within the main Shin-Otani building. If I’m planning a trip that includes resting, taking a walk, and having breakfast at the hotel, I’d consider Zen; however, those rushing from one attraction to another might not need the lounge and dining facilities. The "Executive" designation doesn’t necessarily mean the rooms are spacious.

Before making a choice, consider these trade-offs.

advantage:

  • The official website offers a total of six breakfast options, including Zen Lounge, room service, and four restaurants.
  • Breakfast can be taken at either the Garden Lounge (opening at 6:30 AM) or the Zen Lounge (opening at 8:00 AM), depending on your itinerary.
  • The hotel offers a variety of dining options and a garden, making it ideal for a leisurely half-day trip without having to spend all your time transferring between trains.

limit:

  • For large venues, the time from the entrance to the rooms and restaurants should be factored in.
  • The official guide for the Nagatacho route notes that there are many steps, and 3 minutes does not necessarily mean it’s the easiest time to drag a suitcase.
  • The original review pointed out a discrepancy between the lounge selection and the executive room space; it should be evaluated based on usage habits.

To get to the hotel: The exit and elevator are usually viewed separately.

The official route list generally indicates that it’s approximately 3 minutes from Exit D of Akasaka-mitsuke, 3 minutes from No. 7 Nagatacho, 6 minutes from No. 2 Kojicho, and 8 minutes from Yotsuya-Kojicho/Akasaka Exit. The official website specifically states that the Nagatacho route has many stairs, so strollers and wheelchair users should ideally use Akasaka-mitsuke. This is crucial for route selection; don’t just choose the shortest route. The exact elevator exits at Akasaka-mitsuke and the complete route to the Zen counter have not yet been verified for this trip; for those with large luggage or mobility issues, please request the main building entrance layout from the hotel beforehand, and do not mistake the area to the park boundary for your guest room. How should one schedule a day be arranged in this location?

You can schedule your stay to visit the Japanese garden, the hotel’s restaurants, and take a walk around Kioi-cho, making sure you get to use the lounge and breakfast. If you’re going to Ginza or Shibuya, you should choose Akasaka-mitsuke based on your daily route instead of consistently walking through Yotsuya. A comment on October 19, 2026, mentioning the tiring slopes is a personal experience, but it does remind you not to rely solely on straight-line distances on maps when traveling with elderly people.

Room type, bed and luggage space

Trip listings show Executive Deluxe Twin, Select Deluxe Double/Twin, and Standard Double rooms, but the area and bed width are not listed in the approval. The Chinese term "suite" does not guarantee a separate living room for each room type; for those requiring more space, please request the corresponding room name and floor plan from the official website. The newly added section allows users to log in to reviews for specific room types, but the complete occupancy count is still missing; similarly, Deluxe Twin rooms can vary in size, some feeling spacious and others smaller, and these differences do not negate each other. For two people with multiple suitcases, families, or those needing a third bed, please inquire about the occupancy of the specific room beforehand; do not assume occupancy based on the executive name.

The newly added room type entries have been confirmed. On January 13, 2026, the room that was considered small was the Executive Zen Standard Double Room; on September 25, the room that was unsatisfactory in terms of space and tidiness was the Executive Deluxe Twin Room; and on May 2, the room that was considered spacious was also listed as the Executive Deluxe Twin Room. I will interpret this as a difference between expectations and actual needs. When selecting a room, I still require the actual area and floor plan, and I will not assume that the space will be sufficient based on the "Executive" designation or similar positive reviews.

The photos of guests in both the standard double room and the deluxe twin room show window seating, and some rooms also have a round table, sofa, and a bathroom with a wide countertop. The photo set is based on the room type listed in the comments, and it’s not possible to combine the living area of one room into a suite. If I plan to stay in the hotel longer, I will check if there are enough chairs and desks in the actual room to ensure that my time in the room outside the lounge also meets my needs.

Should we order breakfast together?

The official breakfast page provides the following information: Zen Lounge 8:00–10:00 Continental; SATSUKI 7:00–10:00 Japanese-Western buffet; Garden Lounge 6:30–10:00 Japanese-Western buffet. Other options include Kioi Nadaman, Tower Restaurant, and Room Service. Hours and options may vary; please check daily. The "six options" are not a guarantee that you can try them all in one day. While the original reviews were generally positive about the breakfasts, a reviewer on June 6th complained about long queues at the restaurant. If you’re going out early, it’s not advisable to only consider eating at the 8:00 lounge. I would rotate breakfasts during consecutive stays rather than judging all options based on the experience of the same meal. Official Zen Breakfast Reference 1

A guest who visited the hotel on September 10, 2025, described the lounge afternoon tea, evening snacks, and the following day’s SATSUKI breakfast separately. This shows that travelers who enjoy desserts and timed dining will find this arrangement more enjoyable. However, this is based on my earlier personal dining experience, and I cannot guarantee the availability of any particular brand of desserts or ingredients at that time. If I don’t like sweets and expect to have a full hot meal at each stop, I will ask about the current meal plan first.

Photos of breakfast and dining space

The considerations are different depending on whether you stay one night or stay for two consecutive nights.

For a short one-night stay, it’s best to allow time from the afternoon to the next morning; otherwise, there might not be enough time to use the lounge during check-in, dinner, and breakfast. Extended stays are suitable for a slower pace of travel, but you should first understand the room service, breakfast benefits, and lounge meal options; don’t mistake simple meals for unlimited, complete meals. Even if you give the complaints about housekeeping and bed making on September 25th an 8 out of 10, there are still some details worth noting.

What are some noteworthy signals in the original message?

The 10 original samples covered the period from September 10, 2025 to October 19, 2026. On January 13 and September 25, 2026, the executive room space was not as expected; on June 6 and September 25, reservations were made about the lounge selection, creating a gap in expectations across months, which is not statistical evidence of poor food quality. The hot sunshine and breakfast queues were from a report on June 6; there was no subsequent data for the same room type to confirm whether this continued or improved.

What’s the final choice?

I would reserve Zen for those who are willing to schedule their hotel time and value breakfast options and hospitality. For a sense of value, first check lounge access, room size, and breakfast hours; if you’ll be eating out every day and only staying overnight, compare other hotels in Shin-Otani or accommodations closer to your event location.
