Dormy Inn Premium Kanda: Public Bath, Tempura Breakfast and Room Sizes

Dormy Inn Premium Kanda

Dormy Inn Premium Kanda is suitable for travelers who want to incorporate the large public bath and evening dining into their daily routine. If I’m spending a lot of time in Akihabara and Kanda during the day, I’ll definitely add it to my list of consecutive stays; however, the most common double room is only 15 square meters, so don’t assume that all room types are spacious just because some reviews say they are. This analysis is based on the official website specifications and Trip.com reviews, without actual accommodation.

Which ones are worth choosing, and which ones need to be thought out first?

  • Advantages: It’s about 1 minute from Kanda Exit 6 on the Ginza Line and about 5 minutes from Kanda North Exit on the JR Line. You can select the station according to the route.
  • Advantages: The original review mentioned the large public bath, nighttime pasta, and after-bath snacks multiple times in different months, which are indeed services used by travelers.
  • Disadvantages: The 15-square-meter double room and the 24-square-meter twin room cannot share luggage space.
  • Disadvantages: The elevator at Exit 6 has limited usage time recently; and even with continuous cleaning services, it’s impossible to expect a complete cleaning every day.

Kanda Exit 6 is very close, but the elevator only runs until 9 PM.

According to the official transportation page, it’s about a 1-minute walk from Exit 6 of the Kanda Station on the Ginza Line, about a 5-minute walk from the JR North Exit, and about a 6-minute walk from the Akihabara Electric Town intersection. The subway and JR exits are not the same; first-time visitors should not confuse the JR route with the "1-minute" measurement. Source 1

The official Tokyo Metro website confirms that there is an elevator at Exit 6 from the Sudacho exit, operating from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM; there is also an elevator at the Uchikanda exit leading to Exit 1. If I arrive with luggage during those times, Exit 6 is a reasonable choice; if I return late at night, I will need to check other available routes. The walking time from Exit 1 to the hotel has not been measured, and for different directions within the station, I still need to refer to the map; simply stating "the subway is downstairs" does not guarantee that luggage will be convenient throughout the journey. The address is 1-16 Kanda-Suda-cho, official postal code 101-0041; the 104-0041 in the Trip address bar is different from the official website, this article uses the official website address. Shopping in Akihabara and dining in Kanda can be arranged sequentially; if the entire trip is in other areas, you should compare the daily transfers first, rather than choosing this place just for the free nighttime meals.

A guest who booked a double room with a desk on September 8th also noted that the entrance to the Ginza Line next door closes around 9 PM, which aligns with the operating hours of the official elevator No. 6. For me, the advantage of being close to the entrance should be considered in conjunction with arrival time; when returning to the hotel at night or changing rooms with luggage, it’s essential to have alternative routes to other available exits prepared in advance, rather than relying solely on the shortest daytime navigation.

The room names are similar, but the actual spaces are quite different.

Queen Room Types on WebsiteArea 22 square metersBed width 160 cm
Official website room type TwinArea 24 square metersBed width will be adjusted based on the specific room type and bed configuration as per official specifications.

The official website’s room page also lists different single rooms and accessible twin rooms, not just the four categories listed, which cover all available combinations. If two people are staying together and each has large luggage, I would prioritize comparing 22 or 24 square meter rooms; for a short stay for one person, a 15 square meter room is easier to arrange. Source 1

On October 13th, a traveler commented that the room was small, while on September 22nd and September 13th, some guests felt the entryway or space was sufficient. The newly added section can confirm the different scenarios for small double beds, king beds, and twin beds. These differences cannot be averaged out as "all rooms are large." Whether a guest room has a bathtub also needs to be checked on a room type; a large public bath cannot replace an individual’s need for in-room bathroom facilities.

The addition of room type information makes it easier to interpret space discrepancies: A review from October 13th stating the room was small indicates a small double room; a review from September 22nd stating the entryway was spacious indicates a large double room; and a review from September 13th stating the space was larger than expected indicates a twin room. If two people are staying together and have large luggage, I will first compare the Queen or Twin rooms, without considering the price of the small double room or other room type reviews when making a decision.

Photos of twin rooms show the aisle at the foot of the bed, while single room photos allow for comparison of the desk and sofa positions. The newly added Trip-style/desk-style double room photos show the toilet and shower entrances, while the twin, king, single, and mini-double room photos show a shared shower area. The contradictory candidate of a room with a "no shower" name but a shower photo has been eliminated. If I require in-room showering, I will verify each plan with the hotel; a shared public bath or platform photo cannot be used to represent the bathtub configuration in every room.

Breakfast is served before 7:00 AM; whether or not you choose breakfast included depends on your itinerary.

The official breakfast page lists SOBA KITCHEN HATAGO as being located on the second floor, open from 6:30 AM to 9:45 AM (last entry at 9:30 AM). As of October 23, 2026, the breakfast price was 2,000 yen for adults, 1,000 yen for children aged 3 to elementary school, and free for children under 2. Specialties include soba noodles and freshly fried tempura, served in small bowls and other Japanese and Western-style options. Source 1

The original review on October 19th pointed out that while the selection wasn’t extensive, tempura was included, aligning with the website’s focus. This is more helpful than simply stating "a substantial breakfast": if I want to eat Japanese hot food and don’t leave until after 6:30 AM, breakfast is more likely to be included; if I eat breakfast out every day or leave before 6 AM, the option of not including breakfast remains flexible. Those with food allergies should pay attention to the official list regarding shared utensils and oils, and should not consider soba noodles as a suitable option for everyone.

The breakfast photos show bread, hot food, small bowls, and a beverage station, as well as a complete tray of soba noodles with tempura, consistent with the official description. If I prefer Japanese hot food and small side dishes, I would consider breakfast; however, the photos only show what the food was like at that particular time and do not guarantee that every dish will be available every day, nor can they be used to infer that there will be no queue based on the photos.

For short stays, enjoy hot spring bathing; for extended stays, inquire about cleaning and complimentary service hours beforehand.

The original Trip review mentioned the nighttime ramen, post-bath ice cream, and large public bath multiple times between July and October, supporting these as unique features of the accommodation. This review does not provide the exact times for each of the currently free services, nor does it use guests’ memories of "before 11 pm" as a fixed rule, nor does it automatically list Myojin no Yu as a natural hot spring. Guests need to check the announcement again upon check-in each night.

Of the 10 original reviews, a twin room guest on July 14 mentioned that the room wasn’t cleaned daily, while a desk-style double room guest on August 5 was satisfied with the meticulous cleaning. These differences may stem from room type, service plan, or application method; without a complete cleaning policy, it’s impossible to determine which is correct. A guest on September 22 requested hotter water, which is an individual preference and doesn’t indicate a malfunction in the bathhouse. The lack of sufficient repeated major negative reviews also doesn’t mean all rooms are problem-free.

I would recommend it to solo travelers and couples who are willing to spend time enjoying the public baths; for families or those with large luggage staying in consecutive rooms, first confirm the actual bed group, number of people and cleanliness before deciding whether it is worth choosing it for these additional services.
