Dormy Inn Akihabara: Ninth-Floor Public Bath, Compact Rooms and Cleanliness Reviews
Dormy Inn Akihabara
The most noteworthy aspect of the Tomi Hotel in Akihabara is the combination of city accommodation and a public bath: if you want to explore Akihabara during the day and relax in the bath at night, you’ll make better use of the facilities than simply using your room as a place to sleep. However, the original review contained recent complaints about cleaning, wallpaper, and ventilation, which I will consider alongside the positive reviews about the bath, ensuring that the room conditions aren’t overlooked just because the bath is large.

First, see if you know how to use the bathhouse.
- Advantages: Officially confirmed, the 9th floor features separate large public baths for men and women, open-air baths, and saunas, offering more complete rest facilities than just accommodation.
- Advantages: Officially listed laundry area within the bathhouse; provides a place to handle laundry during long trips.
- Limitations: Guest rooms are still mainly 12 to 17 square meters; more bath facilities do not necessarily mean larger rooms.
- Limitations: Two separate negative comments from passengers regarding hygiene and ventilation were received in September 2026, and there is no evidence of improvement.
The address is 4-12-5 Sotokanda, Chiyoda-ku (Japanese: すえひろの汤ドーミーイン秋叶原). The trip name includes "Hot Spring," but the official description emphasizes the large public bath; without proof of water quality and source, this review does not consider it a natural hot spring. Both Akihabara and Suehiro are comparable, but export data is incomplete.
The original reviews repeatedly pointed out that Akihabara is within walking distance, and a guest from August 3, 2026, mentioned that there is an elevator in Suehirocho that goes to the ground; however, the reviews did not specify the exit numbers, and the Tokyo Metro exit map was not checked this time. The official names and arrival times of general exits, as well as the names of elevator exits and their distance and time from the store, are yet to be added. "There is an elevator nearby" is not described as a continuous route with no stair difference.
When pulling my suitcase, I first check the actual route to Akihabara or Suehirocho, and then confirm which exit leads directly to the ground; a nearby stairwell might not be as convenient as going around to the elevator. The original review mentioned convenience stores, supermarkets, and drugstores downstairs, but the claim that they are open 24 hours was not verified store by store, so I will not make arrangements for morning supplies that I am certain I can buy based on this.

For 12, 14, and 17 square meters, first confirm your bed and bathroom requirements.
| Official Manual Room Types | area | Confirmation required when selecting. |
|---|---|---|
| Official Manual Room Type: Japanese-style Compact Double | Area 12㎡ | When making your selection, please confirm the bed width, luggage placement, and in-room bathroom amenities. |
| Official manual room types: Semi-double / Double / Japanese style Double | Area 14㎡ | When selecting a bed, you need to confirm the differences in bed width and room configuration. |
| Official brochure room type: Japanese style Hollywood Twin | Area 17㎡ | When selecting, you need to confirm the arrangement of the two beds and whether they can be separated. |
The above-mentioned area is supported by the official manual, but the manual does not have a complete bed width table, so it will not be supplemented in this estimate. The original review on August 3, 2026, stated that the two beds could not be separated, which is very helpful for those who wish to sleep in separate beds, but it still needs to be confirmed according to the actual room type. Some people were able to open both beds on July 26 and August 3, while others felt that the room was not breathable on September 24. New data has been obtained for each room type: both negative cleanliness and ventilation reviews in September were for non-smoking double rooms, so it cannot be inferred that every room of this type has the same situation.
For a short stay for one person, 12 or 14 square meters can be compared based on budget; for two people staying together with lots of large luggage, 17 square meters should be prioritized, but it’s necessary to confirm whether the bed arrangement is acceptable. This article did not measure the room layout, so you cannot visually estimate from pictures whether your suitcases will fit.
The addition of new room types makes the negative reviews more specific: the wallpaper mold and peeling issue on September 10th and the lack of ventilation on September 24th both came from the non-smoking double room; the positive review on July 26th about being able to open two boxes and being clean was also for the same room type, so we cannot assume that the problems have been resolved based on that alone. The reminder on August 3rd that the two beds could not be separated refers to the medium-sized Japanese-style twin bed; if I really need separate beds, I will ask beforehand whether the beds can be moved.
The photos of the medium-sized Japanese-style twin beds show the two beds close together, with the aisle and desk concentrated on the sides of the beds; if you want to sleep separately, you should first ask if the beds can be moved. The newly added Trip room layout photos show the shower and toilet shared by multiple room types; you cannot determine whether each option has a full private bathroom based on the shared images. A spacious bath and well-ventilated guest rooms are different conditions; the wallpaper and lack of ventilation from the September review remain unchanged.

The public bathhouse hours are clearly defined; don’t assume all complimentary snacks are part of the fixed menu.
The official guide states that the large public bath on the 9th floor is open from 3:00 PM to 10:00 AM the following day, while the sauna is closed from 1:00 AM to 5:00 AM. There are differences between men’s and women’s facilities; the water bath is only listed for the men’s area. There is a laundry area inside the bathhouse, but the usage fee, number of tables, cleaning and maintenance details, and individual bathing rules were not fully read during this trip; I will inquire again before departure.
The original review mentioned nighttime ramen, ice cream, and drinks multiple times in July and September 2026, which is sufficient to support the fact that guests did indeed use these services. The current items and times are not fully confirmed in this official review, therefore we do not guarantee that each item will be available every night, nor do we offer snacks as dinner. The value of the room rate lies in whether guests can use it during their trip.
Breakfast starts at 6:30 AM, and the official last entry time is 9:00 AM.
The official guide states that breakfast on the first floor is served from 6:30 AM to 9:15 AM, with the last entry at 9:00 AM. The official website’s price announcement on May 1, 2025, states that from June of the same year, the price is 1,500 yen for adults and 900 yen for children (tax included) (re-verified on October 23, 2026). This is the official reference price; the actual applicable age for children and any additional purchases should be clarified upon arrival. (Original breakfast price information follows.) Source 1
The trip schedule ends at 9:00 AM. This article clarifies the last arrival at the hotel and the end time, which is 9:15 AM. The original review from July 1, 2026, mentioned that the breakfast was filling, but this was a limited feedback on the taste of the food; there wasn’t enough data to assess whether the menu would become monotonous for long-stay guests. Those who need to leave before 7:00 AM should compare whether 6:30 AM is enough time. If catching an earlier train, one shouldn’t sacrifice transfer time for breakfast.

Negative cleaning reviews are concentrated in recent times and should not be overshadowed by positive reviews of the bathhouse.
This review includes 10 additional Trip reviews, published between June 9th and September 24th, 2026, totaling 369 pages. The review on September 10th mentioned moldy and peeling wallpaper, while the review on September 24th addressed hygiene and poor room ventilation, raising recent concerns about room maintenance. Reviews on July 26th and June 9th confirmed the rooms were clean, but this cannot be used to infer the same issue in every room across the entire hotel, nor can it be claimed that the problems have been resolved.
It’s worth noting that negative reviews still positively mention the bathhouse, meaning that "good bathhouse" and "questions about the rooms" can coexist. For short stays where bathing is highly valued and daytime outings are a good option, the bathhouse’s value should be considered. For extended stays, allergies, or those sensitive to odors, I would first inquire about room maintenance and room change options before deciding if it’s suitable. If you only need the shortest walking distance and a spacious room, you should compare the exit, size, and bed type item by item, without relying on brand preferences for confirmation.
