Quintessa Hiroshima Kanayamacho | Fried Oyster Breakfast, Shopping-District Location and Choosing Between 12–16㎡ Rooms
Quintessa Hotel Hiroshima kanayama Cyou

How this place works best
- Fried oysters and the Japanese breakfast have specific, positive taste reviews.
- Nagarekawa, PARCO and convenience stores make eating and shopping easy.
- 15㎡ double and 16㎡ twin rooms let you avoid the smallest room.
How Would I Choose?
Quintessa Hotel Hiroshima Kanayama Cyou (Quintessa Hiroshima Kanayamacho) is a choice I would consider for its breakfast and its central dining location. After its 2025 rebranding and opening, its local-dish breakfast has been memorable; but a standard double room is only 12㎡, so for two people staying several nights or travelling with large suitcases, I would first compare the 15㎡ double or the 16㎡ twin.
12㎡ Is Simpler for Solo Travel; Two People with Large Suitcases Should Compare 15 or 16㎡ First
The 12㎡ standard double room has one double bed; the 15㎡ moderate double room adds 3㎡; the 16㎡ standard or moderate twin rooms have two single beds instead. If two people want separate beds, choosing a twin is clearer; if you want to keep a walkway for unpacking suitcases, do not ignore the size just because both are called “double”.
In October 2026, guests found two people plus luggage a tight fit, acceptable for one night; that matches how I see it. A rebranding and opening is a new start for the brand’s operation, but room choice should still be judged on the room itself — do not equate the new name with all-new, larger space.
| Room type | Size | Beds / Layout |
|---|---|---|
| Standard Double Room – Non-smoking | 12 sqm | 1 double bed |
| Standard Twin Room – Non-smoking | 16 sqm | 2 single beds |
| Moderate Double Room – Non-smoking | 15 sqm | 1 double bed |
| Moderate Twin Room – Non-smoking | 16 sqm | 2 single beds |

Fried Oysters and Other Japanese Dishes Earn Praise; Breakfast Starts at 7, So Check Your Schedule
Breakfast is the part I am most interested in. In 2026, several guests praised the fried oysters, the variety and the flavours, while others said the Japanese choices were more numerous and the Western choices fewer. The first-floor restaurant, “Roast Beef no Hangyaku”, lists freshly made Eggs Benedict, fried oysters and Kure-style meat and potatoes, which will appeal more to people who like a hot meal in the morning.
Service runs 7:00–10:00, with last orders at 9:30, so people leaving early may not get to use it; if you are not in a rush, it can serve as a proper meal. My judgement on adding breakfast will depend on the day’s breakfast-included price difference and my own appetite, and I will leave lunch and dinner to Kanayamacho and the Nagarekawa area. (Routine times and reference prices checked: 22 October 2026; follow the hotel’s on-site notices.)
It can be true at once that breakfast has many Japanese choices and few Western ones; if you are used to rice with hot dishes, the fried oysters will be a plus, but if you only eat bread and coffee, it may not be worth adding specially. The official adult walk-in reference price is 2,200 yen (source checked 2026-10-22), not a fixed price difference for any breakfast-included plan.

Arrive at Kanayamacho Tram Stop, Then Line Up Nagarekawa and PARCO
10-17 Kanayamacho, Naka Ward, 730-0022 Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan
The hotel is at 10-17 Kanayamacho, reachable by Hiroden tram from Kanayamacho stop. PARCO is about 410 m on foot and Nagarekawa street about 440 m, so this location works well if you want to shop, eat ramen or visit an izakaya; a nearby convenience store is another advantage guests often mention.
JR Hiroshima Station is about 1.2 km on foot and the Peace Memorial Park about 1.4 km; I would set aside a full block of time for the park separately. It suits a plan of exploring the city by day and eating in the shopping district at night; if you need to catch an early JR train, work out the return to the station first.

A Rebranding Does Not Mean Brand New; Small Rooms on Longer Stays Need a Look at Cleaning and Storage
For one night, location and breakfast matter most; for four nights, cleaning, water refills and clothing storage matter more. The hotel has a laundry room and dryers that longer-stay guests can use; a small room also means shopping bags and clothes need more tidying.
In August 2026, guests reported air-conditioner filters, bedding and cleaning only on the third day, while other guests praised the cleanliness and polite service, and in October some said towels were replaced daily. My trade-off is to value the food and transport, while first choosing a suitable size and asking clearly about the longer-stay cleaning arrangement.

How I Would Choose in the End
I would compare Quintessa for its fried-oyster and other Japanese breakfasts and its Kanayamacho dining location, first accepting the small-room trade-off. Solo travellers travelling light can look at the 12㎡ room; two people with large suitcases should compare the 15㎡ double or 16㎡ twin first; departing before 7:00 means I would not choose it specially for breakfast. For longer stays, confirm the cleaning arrangement, and a rebranding and opening does not mean all the hardware is new.

Pros and Trade-offs to Accept
What I Value
- Fried oysters and the Japanese breakfast have specific, positive taste reviews.
- Nagarekawa, PARCO and convenience stores make eating and shopping easy.
- 15㎡ double and 16㎡ twin rooms let you avoid the smallest room.
Think Through This Before Booking
- The 12㎡ standard double is tight for two people’s luggage.
- Breakfast only starts at 7:00, which does not suit earlier departures.
- There have recently been comments about bedding, filters and cleaning frequency.
