How this hotel suits a stay

  • Peace Memorial Park about 700 metres away, with a distinctive riverside setting.
  • River-view and 16 m² twin rooms can be chosen to suit your needs.
  • Nearby supermarkets and restaurants, plus in-hotel laundry, make short longer stays easier.

How would I choose?

What draws me to HOTEL LiVEMAX Hiroshima Funairimachi Riverside is its riverside location and the possibility of walking to Peace Memorial Park. It suits light packers who spend most of the day out, especially solo travellers on short stays; two people staying longer should first check whether the 10–11 m² small double rooms work with their luggage.

Look at 10, 11 and 16 m² separately, and choose the right room name for a river view

The small double is about 11 m² with one small double bed; the river-view version is about 10 m², with smoking and non-smoking separated. The 16 m² twin has two small double beds, and I would bring that category into the comparison first when two people do not share a bed or carry more luggage.

A river view requires choosing a room type explicitly listed as river view; you cannot expect every window to face the river just because the hotel name includes “Riverside”. There is also a first-floor loft single room, whose suitability depends on the internal height difference; if you want to open a suitcase right beside the bed, I would prioritise a standard room layout.

“Can open a suitcase” and “no place for toiletries at the washbasin” come from different room types: an August 2026 river-view small-double guest liked the walkway, while a December 2025 twin guest noted a small washbasin and splashing. If I upgraded to 16 m², I would look at the bathroom too, not just the bedroom area.

Expect a meal-box breakfast, not a full buffet

Breakfast is more like a simple meal to replenish energy. The listing shows a Japanese meal-box / bagged format; in 2025 some guests found the meal box quite good, and in 2026 some mentioned breakfast-included plans. For anyone wanting a full buffet, I would adjust expectations to convenient pickup.

My plan is to check first whether the chosen plan includes meals, then decide whether to collect a meal box or put together my own from nearby supermarkets and convenience stores. For a change at lunch or dinner, Hondori and Shintenchi dining can be fitted into a city itinerary, with no need to travel back specially just to eat.

Arriving in Funairimachi, start with the south-west side of Peace Memorial Park

4-13 Funairimachi, Naka Ward, 730-0841 Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan

The hotel is at 4-13 Funairimachi, reachable via the Funairimachi tram stop. Peace Memorial Park is about a 700-metre walk, the museum about 1 km, and the Atomic Bomb Dome about 1.3 km; I would start from the park’s south-west side, then extend to Hondori as energy allows.

The riverside is an environmental feature guests like, and some mention the convenience of nearby supermarkets, drugstores and restaurants. Drivers should note carefully that the hotel has no dedicated car park; nearby parking spaces must not be read as free parking included in the room rate.

For two people staying longer, factor in the small bathroom and cleaning arrangements

A small room is easy to accept for one night, but for three or more nights, laundry, luggage and cleaning need to be considered together. The hotel has laundry facilities, but an April 2026 guest warned that cleaning is not automatically daily; anyone wanting daily tidying should check the plan first.

Guests often like the quiet riverside and transport access, though details also draw comment: a small bathroom washbasin, shower splashing, and bedding texture that did not suit everyone. For me, it is a choice that puts the budget into location and basic accommodation; if you spend long periods in the room, the larger twin room is more worth comparing.

My final choice

I would keep this hotel for solo travellers or short stays who like riverside walks and carry little luggage. Two people who each want a bed should look at the 16 m² twin; for a river view, choose a category explicitly listed as river view. If you need a large desk every day to organise things, a 10–11 m² small room will not become wider because of the window view. Judge breakfast by the convenient meal-box expectation, and arrange parking separately if driving.

Advantages and trade-offs to accept

The advantages I value

  • Peace Memorial Park about 700 metres away, with a distinctive riverside setting.
  • River-view and 16 m² twin rooms can be chosen to suit your needs.
  • Nearby supermarkets and restaurants, plus in-hotel laundry, make short longer stays easier.

Think through before booking

  • 10–11 m² rooms are compact, so two people’s luggage needs trade-offs.
  • No dedicated car park; drivers must arrange parking separately.
  • Cleaning is not automatically provided daily, and bathroom space also draws comment.
