WeBase Hiroshima | Fukuro-machi Dorms and Private Rooms — How to Choose 9–16㎡
WeBase Hiroshima

How this stay works best
- About 530 metres to Hondori and about 670 metres to Peace Memorial Park.
- Many choices: dorms, private bunk rooms and large-bed rooms.
- Shared lounge, kitchen and laundry room suit longer stays.
How would I choose?
What draws me to WeBase Hiroshima is being able to choose between dorms and private rooms in the same building, with a café and shared lounge on the 1st floor. Solo travellers packing light can look at beds, while two people who want to keep their own bathroom should compare private rooms; the key is the way of staying, not directly comparing the lowest per-person price.
Room-type differences
The mixed dorm is on the 2nd floor, and 93㎡ is the whole dorm, not an individual sleeping space. Private bunk-bed rooms are about 10–11㎡ on the 3rd–4th floors, with two people splitting upper and lower bunks; private double rooms are about 9–11㎡ on the 5th–6th floors, with one double bed.
If you want more breathing room, compare the 12㎡ Select king bed or the 16㎡ accessible private room, still choosing by actual need. In September 2026 a guest found a private bunk room suitable for one person, but for two people the smaller bathroom and climbing up and down also need trade-offs; that helps room choice more than just looking at the word “private”.
| Room type | Area / floor | Sleeping arrangement |
|---|---|---|
| Mixed dorm bed | Whole dorm 93㎡ / 2nd floor | Single bunk bed |
| Private bunk-bed room | 10–11㎡ / 3rd–4th floors | 1 set of bunk beds |
| Private double room | 9–11㎡ / 5th–6th floors | 1 double bed |
| Select private king bed | 12㎡ / 6th floor | 1 king bed |
| Accessible private room | 16㎡ / 5th floor | 1 king bed |

Breakfast and nearby dining
The 1st-floor lounge serves breakfast and light meals from 7:00–10:00, with last orders at 9:30; the information was checked on 2026-10-22. I would first check my departure time: if I want to eat slowly and then stroll Hondori, I can use the in-house meals.
The shared kitchen makes simple meals flexible, and in the evening when you do not want to sleep yet, you can rest at public tables instead of sitting in your bed all the time. For lunch and dinner there are many choices toward Hondori, Fukuro-machi and Shintenchi, which suits pairing eating out with a city stroll.

Plan arrival from the station, then link nearby itineraries
4-16 Nakamachi, Naka Ward, 730-0037 Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan
The address is 4-16 Nakamachi; Fukuro-machi is the tram arrival direction, and Hondori Station is about 530 metres away, an estimated 8-minute walk. PARCO is about 430 metres, Don Quijote about 450 metres and Peace Memorial Park about 670 metres away, so this location suits splitting shopping, eating and the park over two unhurried days.
If you take the Astram to Hondori, there is a ground-level lift on the east 1 side, so with luggage you can plan your exit by the lift location. Guests also mentioned that buses on Peace Boulevard can get close to the stay; I would drop off luggage first, then link nearby itineraries on foot.

Trade-offs for one night versus a longer stay
Travelling light for one night makes a dorm easier to accept, while a longer stay makes more use of the laundry room, drying and shared spaces. Narrow dorm beds appeared in guest reviews in both 2025 and 2026, and in 2025 there were two further comments about smell; these point at multi-person dorms and cannot be applied directly to private rooms.
In March 2026 a private double room guest was unhappy with cleanliness and service, while other guests praised the staff and showers. A private room avoids sharing living space with many roommates, but 9 to 11㎡ is still compact; I would read reviews by room type and check whether I need separate beds, an independent bathroom and space to spread out luggage.

Compare dorms and private rooms separately — area still matters
If I want to stay in Fukuro-machi and use the shared kitchen and lounge, I would look at WeBase; choose a dorm only if you can accept living with many people, and compare private rooms if you want your own bathroom. A two-person bunk room of 10 to 11㎡ needs climbing and taking turns tidying, so do not expect spaciousness just because it is “private”.

Pros and trade-offs to accept
Pros I value
- About 530 metres to Hondori and about 670 metres to Peace Memorial Park.
- Many choices: dorms, private bunk rooms and large-bed rooms.
- Shared lounge, kitchen and laundry room suit longer stays.
Think through before booking
- Dorm beds are rather narrow, with past comments about smell and ventilation.
- 9–11㎡ private rooms have compact bathroom and luggage space.
- Private double rooms have had individual negative reviews about cleanliness and service.
