How to stay here

  • About 470 metres, about 7 minutes on foot from JR Hiroshima Station.
  • Shukkeien Garden and the Prefectural Art Museum can fill a half-day itinerary.
  • 23㎡ twin, triple and rooms explicitly listed with a river view are available.

How would I choose?

If I want to keep walking to and from Hiroshima Station and I like a riverside cafe space, I would consider Flex. The 11㎡ single, 13㎡ double and 23㎡ twin differ a lot, and for a river view you should pick a room type that explicitly lists one.

What draws me to Hotel Flex Hiroshima (Hotel Flex) is its Kaminoboricho riverside location and its walkable distance from Hiroshima Station. If you need to catch JR trains before and after your stay and want to sit in a cafe space in the morning, it is worth putting on your shortlist.

My trade-off comes down to room size and view: the 11㎡ single and 13㎡ double suit people who mainly spend the day out; for two people with large suitcases, the 23㎡ twin is worth comparing first. The riverside setting is lovely, but whether you get a river view depends on the room you choose.

Small rooms suit light packers; the 23㎡ twin suits two people wanting room to spare

Single Room A is listed at 11㎡ and the double room at 13㎡, both with a view option that cannot be specified; twin and triple rooms are listed at 23㎡. The triple room has three single beds, so friends who each want their own bed can look at it first.

There is also a 23㎡ twin explicitly listed with a river view, so if you like the view from the window, pick that room type directly. Duplex and terrace rooms depend on their own layouts, especially the indoor stairs, so travellers with children or anyone who does not want to climb stairs should think first about how they would use the room.

People who like a riverside atmosphere will enjoy this meal more easily

Breakfast is a Western set meal, not a help-yourself buffet. An August 2025 guest review liked the river-facing terrace atmosphere, while a May 2025 guest thought the paid add-on was average value; my judgement is that people who want to sit down and enjoy a waterside morning suit it better, while anyone chasing a wide choice of dishes should adjust expectations first.

The Trip.com policy saved on 2026-10-22 lists service from 7:30–9:45 at 1,100 yen per person; this is breakfast reference information, and actual service and add-on arrangements should still be confirmed with the hotel. If I had to leave before 7:30, I would choose a room without breakfast and buy food the night before; for consecutive nights, I could alternate with eating out near the station or in shopping areas.

Choose small rooms and river views separately; plan breakfast separately for an early train

If JR access plus a waterside morning is exactly the rhythm you want for this trip, I would look at Flex; for two people with large suitcases, compare the 23㎡ twin first, and if you want a river view, pick one explicitly listed with it. Do not force a breakfast-inclusive rate if you leave before 7:30; for consecutive nights, double-check laundry and room-temperature needs.

About 470 metres from Hiroshima Station, about 550 metres from Shukkeien Garden

Kaminoboricho, 7-1 1F, Naka Ward, 730-0014 Hiroshima, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan

The address is 7-1 Kaminoboricho, about 470 metres and an estimated 7 minutes on foot from JR Hiroshima Station; some guests report walking about 10 to 12 minutes, so I would allow extra time when carrying luggage or waiting at traffic lights.

Shukkeien Garden is about 550 metres away and the Prefectural Art Museum about 700 metres, suitable for a half day combining an exhibition and a garden. If you want to stay by the water for breakfast, use the hotel cafe; for lunch and dinner, head to Hatchobori, Hondori and Shintenchi, with Okonomimura as one okonomiyaki meal, while the Peace Park deserves a separate full block of time.

Hotel exterior and public spaces

For a short stay, use the station location; for consecutive nights, look again at small rooms and temperature

Many guests like the transport links and friendly service, while others find the rooms small and a bit dated. In 2025, guests mentioned bathtub drainage, road noise and temperature control, and in 2026 a triple-room guest had reservations about toilet cleanliness; I would consider room type together with my own cleanliness and noise needs.

For a one-night stay, the walking distance to the station is very practical; for more nights, compare laundry, clothing storage and cleaning arrangements together. If you want more living space when you return to the room each day, a 23㎡-class room is more worth looking at than the smallest rooms.

The hotel has a lift, luggage storage and laundry service. Arriving early, storing your luggage first and then visiting Shukkeien Garden is a more practical short-stay plan than sightseeing with your bags.

Strengths and trade-offs to accept

Strengths I value

  • About 470 metres, about 7 minutes on foot from JR Hiroshima Station.
  • Shukkeien Garden and the Prefectural Art Museum can fill a half-day itinerary.
  • 23㎡ twin, triple and rooms explicitly listed with a river view are available.

Think this through before booking

  • The 11㎡ single and 13㎡ double are fairly compact.
  • Some guests mention a dated feel, temperature control and road noise.
  • Views on breakfast value for money differ, and early-departure guests need to fit the serving hours.
