Hiroshima City Bunka Koryu Kaikan | Stay in the Same Building as HBG Hall: Twin Beds or a Japanese Room?
Hiroshima City Bunka Koryu Kaikan

How to stay here
- The stay shares a complex with HBG Hall, which is very handy on a performance day.
- Choose from a 17.5㎡ single, a 26.7㎡ twin and larger room types.
- Twin and Japanese-style rooms come with a separate bath and toilet.
How Would I Choose?
For a show at HBG Hall, I would look at the Bunka Koryu Kaikan first; staying in the same building removes the trip home after the show, and the 26.7㎡ twin and Japanese-style rooms are also worth comparing.
Hiroshima City Bunka Koryu Kaikan combines accommodation with the Hiroshima Bunka Gakuen HBG Hall, and I would recommend it first to performance-day travellers. Skipping one return trip to the venue after the show is a very practical convenience; if your trip centres on JR transfers or shopping in Hatchobori, factor in the extra travel as well.
Singles and Twins: Check the Bathroom Differences Too
Singles are 17.5㎡ and twins 26.7㎡, with a 35㎡ ten-tatami Japanese-style room and a 46.3㎡ non-smoking large double also available. For more room with family, I would compare the Japanese-style room and the large double; travelling alone for just the performance night, a single is very practical.
Twins, larger doubles and Japanese-style rooms are listed with a separate bath and toilet, while singles have a unit bathroom; that is a difference I pay attention to when choosing a room. Smoking and non-smoking rooms also need to be chosen separately, not just by bed count. Guests have repeatedly liked the space and cleanliness, and it suits people who can accept an older building.
| Room type | Area | Bathroom highlights |
|---|---|---|
| Single room | 17.5㎡ | Unit bathroom |
| Twin room | 26.7㎡ | Separate bath and toilet |
| Ten-tatami Japanese-style room | 35㎡ | Separate bath and toilet; suits Japanese-bedding needs |
| Non-smoking large double | 46.3㎡ | Separate bath and toilet, more spacious |

Breakfast Earns Guest Praise: Take It Slow the Morning After the Show
Breakfast appeals because it is simple and fuss-free, and it has genuinely earned praise for taste. A guest who stayed in an economy twin in April 2025 liked that the menu changed somewhat over two days, and another guest in August called breakfast delicious; it suits people who are in no hurry the morning after a show and want to eat in the building before heading out.
Rivers Garden on the 1st floor serves a Japanese-Western buffet breakfast, listed in the hall’s information as 7:00–10:00 with last orders at 9:30, and a reference price of 1,760 yen per adult including tax (checked 23 October 2026). I would choose a breakfast-included or room-only plan by my departure time; to compare prices, look at the current difference for the same room type, and do not treat this on-site reference price as the breakfast-plan price difference.

Get Off at Kakomachi and Fit Peace Park In Before the Show
3-3 Kakomachi, Naka Ward, 730-0812 Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan
The hall is at 3-3 Kakomachi. From Hiroshima Station, take bus route 24 towards Yoshijima, get off at Kakomachi and walk about 1 minute; Funairimachi tram stop is about a 5-minute walk. The former suits dropping luggage at the hall first, while the latter connects easily to city tram routes.
The walking route to Peace Memorial Park is about 340 m and to the Peace Memorial Museum about 530 m, with JMS Aster Plaza nearby. My plan would be to visit in the daytime and return to the room to rest before the show; shopping in Hondori and dinner at Shintenchi Okonomimura can be scheduled separately, so finding a restaurant after the show is not rushed. Rivers Garden in the building is also an option for meals.

One Night for the Venue, Longer Stays for Daytime Plans
Check-in is 15:00 and check-out 10:00, so whether you can return to your room to rest before the show can be planned around this rhythm. For just one night, the value of the venue in the same building is clearest; longer stays suit people who also spend their days on the south side of Peace Park.
In 2025, guests noted the small lobby and crowding at busy times, and some mentioned a dripping shower tap and a wish for more women’s amenities. Hairbrushes, cotton swabs, cotton pad sets and similar items are available at the counter; on event days I would allow extra time for check-in procedures to avoid queuing in a rush before or after a show.
A guest in a standard twin in September 2026 mentioned using a physical key, left at the counter when going out. If a group splits up before or after a show, this needs more advance agreement on how the key is picked up than a standard magnetic-card room.
The vending-machine area on the 6th floor has a shared microwave, which is very handy for reheating takeaway food, letting you eat on your own schedule before or after a show.

Strengths and Trade-Offs to Accept
Strengths I value
- The stay shares a complex with HBG Hall, which is very handy on a performance day.
- Choose from a 17.5㎡ single, a 26.7㎡ twin and larger room types.
- Twin and Japanese-style rooms come with a separate bath and toilet.
- Breakfast earns guest praise and suits the morning after a show.
Think through before booking
- Shopping in Hatchobori and JR Hiroshima Station require extra travel.
- The lobby is small and may be crowded during events.
- The building feels dated, and there have been comments about a dripping tap and amenities.
