How to stay here

  • The Nakamachi location suits Hondori, Fukuro-machi and Shintenchi dining.
  • Room numbers offer different double-bed, sofa-bed and futon layouts.
  • The kitchen and in-room washing machine are very practical for longer stays.

How Would I Choose?

For a group stay in Nakamachi with simple self-cooked meals, I would look at RIVER CENTRAL; the room number decides the double-bed, sofa-bed or futon layout, and with a washing machine that has no dryer function, drying time needs to be allowed for.

RIVER CENTRAL HIROSHIMA is at 5-22 Nakamachi, and what appeals to me is the kitchen, in-room laundry and the different bed layouts for 9 to 10 guests. It suits families or friends who can accept sharing beds and tidying shared space together; with 43–45㎡ fully occupied, planning luggage and bedding matters more than the maximum headcount.

Choosing by Room Number Matters More Than Just Counting Nine or Ten Guests

Rooms No. 2 and 3 have four double beds plus a two-person sofa bed, while No. 4 instead has four double beds plus two sets of single futons; No. 5 holds up to 9 guests, and No. 6 and 7 have five double beds for up to 10 guests. My approach is to first confirm who is willing to sleep on the sofa bed or on floor bedding, then decide the room number.

If you would rather not use the sofa bed, look first at the five-double-bed room type; if you need bedding laid out separately, compare the futon layout. The number of beds does not equal the number of separate bedrooms, so a group that values privacy should also check the floor plan and the bathroom and toilet arrangements.

Fukuro-machi, Hondori and Dinner in One Itinerary

RIVER CENTRAL HIROSHIMA, 5-22 Nakamachi, Naka Ward, 730-0037 Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan

I would string together Fukuro-machi, Hondori shopping, Peace Boulevard and Shintenchi dining, and set aside a full block of time for the Peace Park and museum. If you want okonomiyaki, pick an Okonomimura shop in advance; for group meals, keep the option of splitting into smaller groups instead of waiting for everyone at every meal.

Self check-in starts at 15:00 and check-out is at 10:00, so save the assigned room number, entrance and check-in details before arrival. If you arrive early or in separate groups, sort out luggage and a meeting point first — it is easier than hunting for contact messages downstairs after you arrive.

Do Not Leave Laundry Until the Night Before Check-Out

The in-room washing machine has no dryer function, so I would wash small loads early and allow drying time, rather than assuming laundry finished on the last night can go straight into suitcases. With 9 to 10 guests’ luggage and beds in 43–45㎡, the drying area also eats into living space; a longer stay needs more coordination over storage, towels and rubbish than a single night.

Guests in April 2026 liked the cleanliness, wide beds, in-room laundry and kitchen; a guest who stayed one night with five people in July 2024 really liked having one double bed per person. That supports how comfortable the five-person layout is, but it cannot be applied directly to a full house of ten. In June 2026 another guest reported that the bed made a noise when it moved slightly, so if you are sensitive to movement when sharing beds, I would ask about this together with the room number.

One IH Burner and a Microwave Suit Simple Meals Best

The kitchen has one IH burner, a microwave, a refrigerator and cooking supplies, and some borrowed pots and pans need to be reserved 3 days in advance. Guests have liked the well-equipped kitchen, which suits reheating takeaway food and making simple meals and snacks; if ten people want to cook a big meal together, the single-burner limit has to be considered.

Strengths and Trade-Offs to Accept

Strengths I Value

  • The Nakamachi location suits Hondori, Fukuro-machi and Shintenchi dining.
  • Room numbers offer different double-bed, sofa-bed and futon layouts.
  • The kitchen and in-room washing machine are very practical for longer stays.

Think Through Before Booking

  • The washing machine has no dryer, so drying time must be allowed.
  • Fitting 9 to 10 guests into 43–45㎡ means shared space needs coordination.
  • With only one IH burner, a large group must cook in batches.
  • A guest mentioned that the bed makes a noise when it moves.
